EdgeForge reads six industrial protocols at once, stores every measurement in a time-series database and shows them in dashboards an operator understands without explanation. One installer, one Windows PC on the shop floor, no cloud subscription.
The problem
In an average factory hall you find controllers from three or four brands side by side, each with its own protocol and its own idea of how to reach it. The numbers you need do exist — they just never come together anywhere.
An operator notes values on paper or in Excel. It costs time, it is not done equally carefully on every shift, and afterwards there is no way to reconstruct what actually happened.
Every machine has its own HMI with its own trends. Comparing two machines means putting two screens side by side and doing the arithmetic yourself.
A full MES or SCADA package solves it, but costs a multiple and brings a months-long implementation project you do not want for twenty measurement points.
An in-house stack with InfluxDB and Grafana often does get built, but then someone has to maintain it. Without IT capacity it stalls within a year on a version nobody dares to touch.
The solution
EdgeForge is a finished product, not a construction kit. You install it, point out which measurement points you want to follow and it runs. The parts you would normally have to combine yourself — drivers, storage, dashboards, alarming, user management, backup — are already in it and tuned to each other.
It runs on a single Windows PC on the factory network. No cloud, no subscription, no mandatory internet connection.
Protocols
A mixed machine park is the normal case, not the exception. Every protocol has its own driver, but you configure them all the same way and the data ends up in the same database.
Browse the server address space, pick the nodes you want and leave the rest. Works with anonymous access, username or certificate.
No extra OPC server or gateway needed. EdgeForge talks to the S7-1500 built-in Web API and reads DB variables by name.
CompactLogix and ControlLogix are read by tag name, including array elements and structure members.
Variable-speed drives, energy meters and twenty-year-old machines that speak nothing else. Coils, discrete inputs, holding and input registers.
Subscribe to topics, with JSON payloads unpacked down to field level. Suitable for wireless sensors that publish by themselves.
Any HTTP source returning JSON: an MES link, an ERP endpoint or an external service. Authentication via header, bearer token or basic auth.

Editions
A tag is one measurement point that EdgeForge reads and stores. It is the unit you can count yourself and the one that scales with what it delivers. A price quote is made to measure, based on the number of sites, tags and protocols.

You buy the licence once and per site, and it is perpetual: the version you have may be used indefinitely. The first twelve months of maintenance and support are included. After that an annual maintenance contract covers updates and support — mandatory, because an industrial installation without maintenance is a risk I am not willing to sell.
When the maintenance contract lapses, nothing stops. You lose the right to new versions and to support, not the right to keep running.
If the licence is missing, expired or your tag count is exceeded, EdgeForge warns you in the interface. Nothing more happens: it keeps reading and it keeps storing. That is not goodwill but a contractual commitment — clause 5.2 of the licence terms — and there is a test in the source code guarding that no code path ever shuts down on licence state.
Scope
Just as important as what it does do. If you recognise your own situation below, I would rather say so now than halfway through a project.

Nothing that costs you data. EdgeForge keeps reading and stores measurements locally until the time-series database is reachable again, after which they are forwarded in order. Connections to machines recover by themselves with an increasing back-off, so a PLC is not hammered with login attempts.
No. A missing, expired or exceeded licence produces a warning in the interface — nothing more. Data acquisition continues. That is written into the licence terms (clause 5.2) and it is built that way on purpose: a licensing matter must never punch a production gap in your history.
One Windows PC or industrial PC on the factory network, with visibility of the machines you want to read. The installer puts everything needed in place — application, time-series database and optionally an MQTT broker — in one go. A separate server, Docker knowledge or cloud service is not required.
No. EdgeForge runs entirely on your own machine and sends no usage data, telemetry or process data to me. The only outbound connection it knows is an optional check for new versions, and that is off by default. Off here means that no request leaves at all.
The licence is perpetual: you may keep using the version you have indefinitely, even without an active maintenance contract. Your measurement data is and stays yours, in an open time-series database you can query yourself. And were I to cease operations, the licence grants you the right to the source code so you can keep maintaining your own installation.
